Wickes screws: watch out

I mostly use Screwfix / Toolstation quicksilver or gold pozi screws but
have occasionally topped up at Wickes.

Ran out of 3.5 x 30 recently and since I was in Wickes to pick up
something else I grabbed a box of their Easy Drive which looked
superficially similar.

Only on opening did I discover that they are not PZ2 as I expected, they
are Pozi Square which is sort of between PZ2 and PZ3. At least they
included a bit in the box, but I only have the one. Torx is OK because I
have several sets of bits and drivers, but I could really do without
having yet another driver to think about. And they are bloody expensive,
50% more than Toolstation's Reisser R2.

B & Qs plastic wall plugs don't correspond to the normal size/colour
convention.

Hello newshound.

I've seen boxes of these screws in Wickes and been put off from buying them
because, as you say, it is yet another driver. Did the screws work better in
practise than the ordinary screws?

Regards, Ian.

IME the Wickes ones aren't as good as TurboGold or TorxFast from SF & TS
respectively.
